An emergency department (ED) flow simulation is a model that replicates how patients move through an emergency department, from arrival and triage to discharge or admission. Think of it as a virtual laboratory: It lets hospital leaders test operational changes and “what if” scenarios before making them in real life, with no risk to patient care.
